THE ROSE OASIS PROJECT

Curio Spice is supporting the Rose Oasis Project to benefit the community of women farmers growing Damask roses, spices, and herbs in the Vallée Dades Mgoune of Morocco. Since 2020 we’ve been directly sourcing culinary rose products from a women-run co-op in Morocco.

The culinary roses, grown 100% organically, are at risk of disappearing due to the effects of climate change. Drought and unpredictable weather threaten this plant that has become essential to the livelihoods of women in this valley.

By regenerating the soil and introducing water-saving technology and a poly-culture, the Rose Oasis Project serves as a model for desert agricultural communities around the world.

WOMAN OWNED.
MISSION DRIVEN.

We believe that every jar of spice has the power to connect people, improve lives, and protect our planet.

By supporting our small spice business, you're helping make positive, meaningful change to our local and global communities.

We strive to improve the lives of spice farmers by directly sourcing from small, sustainable farms.

We inspire culinary curiosity by crafting blends that celebrate global flavors.

We value organic, fair trade ingredients and are a
Certified B Corp.
Our spices non-irradiated and non-GMO with no additional fillers and made in-house in Massachusetts.

We support gender equality, climate resilience, and community empowerment through in-house trainings, responsible packaging, and local partnerships.

OUR STATEMENT ON DIVERSITY, EQUITY, & INCLUSION

Part of our mission here at Curio states that we are “making sure we all have the chance to eat well.” What does ‘all’ mean?

We are excited to welcome Koy Pantry back to the lab!

Koy Pantry is a Boston area based brand (run by longtime friends of Curio) that specializes in artisanal, small batch pantry products from Turkey. Co-founded by three friends who wanted to share high-quality ingredients, Koy Pantry works with small producers in Southeastern Turkey to source their products. By working directly with producers, they are able to offer products that have an emphasis on seasonality and traditional production methods dating back to early Anatolian civilizations. In turn, they offer farmers greater financial security.

Join Koy Pantry at Curio Spice and meet the faces behind the brand. They will have samples of dishes highlighting their products, recipes and stories of their time back home and the passion they have for Anatolian food.

Ready for some serious spice exploration? Delve into the enchanting world of spice blending with instructor Susan Turner!

She’ll introduce you to our flavor theory and the principles that we use to make the exquisite blends we’re known for. Susan will guide you through tasting different spices and teach you about flavor and aroma. She will demonstrate blending techniques and discuss how attention to details such as texture and color can make a blend sing. And, Susan will share insider knowledge about layering flavor, roasting spices, grinding, sensory analysis, and training your palate.

In the hands-on portion of this class, you’ll make one of Curio’s classic blends plus create a blend of your own from our spice cupboard of over 80 intriguing spices. You’ll head home with Curio's Spice Flavor Wheel, blending recipes, and jars of the two blends you made during class. Join us for this wonder-filled evening!
