NEW CAUSE CAMPAIGN: THE ROSE OASIS PROJECT

Curio Spice is supporting the Rose Oasis Project to benefit the community of women farmers growing Damask roses, spices, and herbs in the Vallée Dades Mgoune of Morocco. Since 2020 we’ve been directly sourcing culinary rose products from a women-run co-op in Morocco.

The culinary roses, grown 100% organically, are at risk of disappearing due to the effects of climate change. Drought and unpredictable weather threaten this plant that has become essential to the livelihoods of women in this valley.

By regenerating the soil and introducing water-saving technology and a poly-culture, the Rose Oasis Project serves as a model for desert agricultural communities around the world.

NEW PRODUCT:

MOROCCAN SPICE SHORTBREAD COOKIE

Indulge in the rich, aromatic flavors of our Moroccan Spiced Shortbread Cookies from Sweet Botanical Bakes. These delicate treats are crafted with the finest ingredients, delivering a melt-in-your-mouth texture and a unique Ras el Hanout inspired blend of spices. A perfect fusion of warm spices and subtle floral sweetness, each bite is enhanced with hints of sweet cinnamon, ginger, pistachio, and a touch of rose, transporting you straight to the heart of Morocco.

These shortbread cookies are more than just a buttery delight! 100% of proceeds supports the Rose Oasis Project to benefit the community of women farmers growing Damask roses, spices, and herbs in the Vallée Dades Mgoune of Morocco.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Add personality to your clothes while saving the planet! Push back against the throw-away fashion trend, and learn how to give old clothes new life with visible mending.

Visible mending uses many approaches to restore old, used or torn clothing and fabric items. It’s both a creative process, a relaxing and meditative practice, and a way to demonstrate a commitment to sustainability by reducing waste and pollution.

Join us as Catherine Karp leads a workshop, where she will demonstrate how to use embroidery, patching and darning techniques to restore and revive damaged or worn out textiles. Beginners will leave with a sampler including the five basic stitches along with three ways to patch.

Class take home kit includes; a pair of Olympus Brand Sashiko needles, one skein of DMC 6 strand embroidery thread, 1 skein of Sashiko thread, one spool of Perle cotton, one spool of wool, a tapestry needle threader, and a few fabric scraps for mending.

In the class access to all the communal tools and materials; a variety of threads including colorful Sashiko threads, fabric markers, pencils, thimbles, scissors, needles, and plenty of scraps for your mending projects.

Please be sure to wear your good reading glasses.

Chef Irene Li co-founded Mei Mei with her siblings in 2012 as a food truck. "Mei Mei” means little sister in Mandarin Chinese and Mei Mei food is an expression of the Li siblings’ favorite childhood eating experiences as Chinese-American kids growing up in Boston. In 2020, Irene teamed up with Babson MBA graduates Alyssa Lee and Annie Campbell to lead the business in its transformation into a Dumpling Factory, Cafe, and Classroom.
