Kala Namak es un tipo de sal extraída cerca del Himalaya en forma de "rocas" cristalinas duras y oscuras que luego se secan en hornos para realzar el sabor y se muelen hasta obtener un polvo ligeramente rosado con un olor acre y sulfuroso debido a la antigua actividad volcánica. Utilizado en la cocina del sur de Asia y un ingrediente esencial en Chaat Masala, también se puede utilizar en platos veganos para añadir un sabor a huevo.
