Once you try this, you may not go back to take-out iced lattes! Da Lat Spice deepens the coffee flavor and adds chocolaty notes, along with an uplifting kick of ginger and black pepper.

Ingredients
For the simple syrup
- 1½ cups sugar
- ¾ cup water
-
3 tablespoons Da Lat Spice
For the latte
-
2-3 tablespoons Da Lat Spice Simple Syrup (recipe above)
- 1 cup cold-brew coffee, or chilled, strong coffee
- Ice
- Splash of your preferred milk
Directions
For the simple syrup
- Put the ingredients into a heavy, small saucepan set over medium-high heat. Heat the liquid until it boils; let it boil for 45 seconds. Set aside to infuse and cool to room temperature.
- Pour the syrup through a fine-mesh metal strainer into a clean jar with a tight-fitting lid. Store in the fridge, tightly covered, for up to 2 weeks.
For the latte
- Fill a 16- or 20-ounce glass halfway with ice. Add coffee, Da Lat Syrup, and as much milk as you like (we love unsweetened almond milk in this drink). Stir and enjoy.
- For a frothy version, put the coffee, milk, Da Lat syrup, and a couple of ice cubes into a cocktail shaker. Shake for 20 seconds and strain into a glass half-full of ice.
