Honeybush Chai Concentrate

Honeybush Chai Concentrate

Makes about 1¾ cups, enough for 7-8 servings.

Keeping a batch of chai concentrate in your fridge makes it easy to enjoy an iced chai latte at home. Our Honeybush Chai includes artfully balanced classic chai spices and is naturally caffeine-free, which is great because you’ll probably want to drink more than one of these!

½ cup (1.5 ounces) Honeybush Chai
1 tablespoon honey or 2 tablespoons sugar
Sea salt

Put the chai, sugar, and a tiny pinch of salt into a small saucepan. Add 3 cups of water to the pan and set it over medium-high heat. Boil the mixture for 2 minutes, then shut off the burner and let the chai infuse for 10-12 minutes.

Pour the chai concentrate through a fine-mesh strainer into a clean jar. Discard the spices. Cover and chill. Store in the fridge.

To make an iced chai latte Pour ¼ cup of the chai concentrate into a cocktail shaker. Add some ice, ⅓ cup of milk (dairy or plant-based), and ⅓ cup water. Shake for 20 seconds and pour into a tall glass — straining out the ice or leaving it in as you prefer. Add additional sweetener if you like. For a stronger chai flavor, use another 2 tablespoons of concentrate.

Alternatively, pour ¼ cup of the chai concentrate into a tall glass. Add ⅓ cup each milk and water. Stir well for 10 seconds add some ice and stir for 10 more seconds. Add more sweetener if you like.
