Coriander, the seed of the cilantro plant, has records dating back to Ancient Egypt and biblical times. Texts mention it alongside an ancient spice derived from tree resin called 'manna'. This heirloom variety from India and the Middle East boasts intense aromatics of citrus, pepper, and herbaceous greenery. Picked while young or ‘green’ for brighter flavor, Herati coriander differs from that most commonly available in the US due to its distinct variety as well as its production. Most coriander in the US is the European variety - small, round seeds and sometimes bitter flavor. Notice the oblong (not round!) shape. This high grade type is called 'parrot' for the green color and boasts fresh, complex aromas, including floral notes like orange blossom.
Contains: Dried coriander seeds.
