Prima de la pimienta negra más familiar, la pimienta larga es un grupo de pequeños granos de pimienta, cada uno un poco más grande que una semilla de amapola e incrustados en una espiga floral roma que parece el centro de una cala. Cultivado en un microclima protegido del sur de Camboya, y recogido cuando está maduro y tiene un sabor intenso, el pimiento rojo largo es esencial para el curry tailandés. Picante y achocolatado con un ligero sabor picante, queda maravilloso añadido entero a sopas y guisos.
