Cambodian Banana Suagr

Banana Sugar was created in Cambodia after the Khmer Rouge regime in 1979, when access to basic groceries like sugar was scarce.

A family used the abundant local bananas to create a sugar substitute for their ill grandmother, boiling banana juice to produce a sweetener with a unique flavor. This evolved into a family enterprise through perseverance and creativity.
