Excited about using spices in your cooking but uncertain about how to get started? Our Flavor 201 classes are designed to help you feel at ease using spices intuitively in your everyday cooking while offering a deep dive into particular topics. 

Here in New England we are spoiled for seafood, and especially by Wulf’s Fish, a historic Boston fish market that has sold extraordinary fish and seafood for over 90 years. They value not only top quality but are devoted to working directly with fishermen and farmers to bring traceable, sustainable seafood to market. (Luckily for those of you who don’t live in Boston, Wulf’s Fish ships nationwide!)

In this collaborative class, you’ll learn firsthand from the fine folks at Wulf’s Fish how the company was started and why their seafood is different. Then Claire will teach you the basics of pairing spices with seafood - including some unexpected flavor combinations! She'll share her sourcing stories from Sri Lanka, an island of fish and spice, and you'll learn to make a spiced fish curry with our fragrant Kandy spice. Then we'll jump over to the Mediterranean and, Claire will show you how easy it is to make a delicious meal or appetizer of shrimp with a saffron-flecked, white wine sauce made with our Kozani Spice. 

Your ticket for this demonstration-style class includes recipes, a sample of our Kandy Spice curry blend to try at home, and unlimited access to a recording of the class.

Claire Cheney founded Curio Spice in 2015 out of an obsession for spices and the stories they tell. She hails from Massachusetts and Maine, where she learned to forage for wild foods and build her own curiosity cabinets. She went to Oberlin college where she cooked for 80-member co-ops and studied food writing, then went on to work in specialty coffee and fine dining. As Curio’s blender-in-chief she creates original blends for our Signature line inspired by her extensive travels to spice origins, and also studies time-honored blends for our Classic line. She lives with her family near Cambridge, MA.
